BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Flex option
ANALYSIS: Ladd McConkey is slated as the WR3 on the Los Angeles Chargers’ depth chart to begin the season. Throughout training camp, McConkey has reportedly worked with the first-team offense and has been impressive in the slot. This bodes well for McConkey's fantasy value, as he could see his fair share of targets starting in Week 1.
Selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, McConkey brings a wealth of winning experience with the Georgia Bulldogs. Through 39 career games in college, McConkey had 1,687 receiving yards (14.2 yards per catch), 216 rushing yards (16.6 yards per attempt), and scored 18 total touchdowns.

The Chargers receiver room is led by Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston, and then McConkey. With the departure of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler, plenty of targets are up for grabs.
It is important to remember that Week 1 will be McConkey’s first NFL game, and there truly is nothing one can do to prepare for the real thing until they do it properly. He may struggle a bit, especially at the beginning. That said, McConkey may still be worth starting in deeper leagues as a flex option, as he is positioned to at least see some targets. Expect his value and role in the Chargers’ offense to increase weekly, though.
