Jacob Wilson Reinstated And Starting On Tuesday
3 months agoThe Oakland Athletics reinstated infield prospect Jacob Wilson (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and also recalled infielder Armando Alvarez from Triple-A Las Vegas. In a corresponding move, infielder Abraham Toro was designated for assignment. After tweaking his hamstring in his major-league debut shortly after the All-Star break following a hit in his first career at-bat, Wilson is back at shortstop and is hitting ninth on Tuesday versus the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Jakob Junis at Great American Ballpark. The 22-year-old is Oakland's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is the son of former big-league Jack Wilson. He will play regularly at the 6 for the A's to close out the year, moving Max Schuemann to the hot corner regularly. Wilson is worth a flier in mixed leagues after hitting an absurd .433/.474/.668 with a 1.142 OPS, seven homers and 39 RBI in three minor-league stops.
