Bubba Wallace Falls Short Of A Top-5 Finish At Daytona
4 months ago23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace placed sixth in Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Wallace began Saturday's race from the 18th position, and during the first stage of the event, he was short of scoring stage points, so he ended the stage in the 12th position. In the second stage, Wallace began to show top-notch speed as he took the lead twice in the stage until lap 77, when Joey Logano overtook him for the lead. At the end of the second stage, Wallace faded back to 10th, earning one single stage point for the day. In the final stage, Wallace continued to ride in the top part of the pack before getting collected in a multicar crash on lap 153. Although he obtained damage, Wallace continued on and worked back into the Top 10 by the final restart. At the finish, Wallace ended with 16 laps led and his second consecutive top-10 finish at Daytona after placing fifth in the Daytona 500 earlier in the season. With the Cup Series heading to Darlington next, Wallace will be one to watch as he is below the cutoff line to make the playoffs at a track where he currently has four consecutive top-10 finishes.
