1 week agoKyle Larson is the favorite to win this weekend's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Even though he has only one victory to his credit at this race track, Larson is a constant contender in Miami, with five top-five finishes in his last nine starts here and a series-leading 626 laps led. For context to how impressive that number is, Kyle Busch ranks second in laps led at Homestead with 470, and he's had nearly twice as many career starts at the track as Larson has had. In practice this weekend, the No. 5 Chevrolet was the fastest on the long runs for sure, ranking number one in 20-, 25-, and 30-lap average on Saturday. Larson qualified in 14th-place for this weekend's race, which gives him the rare combination of Place Differential upside, race-winning upside, and dominator potential. You should have plenty of Larson in your DFS lineups on Sunday--even with his high price tag of $11,000 on DraftKings.

2 weeks agoHendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson raced well at Las Vegas and ran inside the top 10 for most of the race on Sunday, finishing in the ninth position. Beginning the race from 10th, Larson had one of the faster cars in the earlier portion of Sunday's event. The No. 5 Chevrolet driver made it up to fifth and collected stage points in the process. In the second stage, Larson was at his best as he took the lead a couple of times and eventually held off the field to win the second stage. Larson continued to challenge for the lead in the earlier parts of stage three, but there would be continuous cautions over the course of the stage, causing Larson to pit and experiment with strategy multiple times. Larson's pit strategies would put him back in the pack, where he struggled to get back to the front compared to Ross Chastain or his teammate William Byron, who both drove back to the top five. Larson made it as high as ninth, settling for his 13th career top-10 finish despite leading the most laps of everyone (61).

2 weeks agoKyle Larson should be in contention for his first win of the 2025 Cup Series season this Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is one of Larson's best tracks on the schedule, and he has won two of the last three here--including a dominating effort in this race one year ago, where the No. 5 Chevrolet was out front for 181 laps en route to victory lane. Additionally, in five of the last eight races at Las Vegas, Larson has finished first or second. Also worth noting is the fact that Larson has led for over 20% of all of the laps on 1.5-mile tracks in the Next Gen era. This weekend, the No. 5 Chevrolet looked stout in practice, ranking fourth-fastest with the fifth-best 20-lap average. "Yung Money" qualified 10th for this weekend's Pennzoil 400, so he has some Place Differential upside in DFS contests as well.

3 weeks agoHendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson had a strong performance and nearly stole the victory during Sunday's race at Phoenix Raceway. Beginning the race from the 17th position, Larson kept his car clean and quietly ascended through the field during the first stage. The No. 5 Chevrolet driver ended the first stage in the 10th position and earned one stage point. During the second stage, Larson performed similarly to the first, except he ran inside the top 10 throughout most of the stage outside of pit stops. Larson ended the second stage in the ninth position and added two more stage points to his total. The final stage was where Larson began to contend at the front, as around lap 224, he finally cracked the top three and challenged for second. Even through pit stops, Larson maintained a top-3 running position and was in a position to compete for the win on the race's final restart. Although he did not get the restart he needed, he kept a close distance with Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin for the win, and on the final corner, Larson made a move as the two leaders got up towards the wall, but he still fell short of victory. Larson finished third, marking the fourth time in now five races that Larson placed fourth or better at Phoenix.
