Daytona Might Be Ryan Preece's Last Chance to Save His Career
3 months agoRyan Preece's NASCAR Cup Series career is probably winding down after Stewart-Haas Racing's shutdown coupled with a dismal season where he is regularly being outrun by his less-experienced teammates. He has not led a single lap this year or posted an average running position better than 15th. As a result, Daytona is not merely a must-win for him to get into the playoffs, but possibly even a must-win to save his career. He did score three top tens at Daytona in the past, but those all came for JTG-Daugherty Racing with the old car and he has been seldom competitive at drafting tracks with this one. He did qualify fourth for tonight's race as the Fords were very fast in qualifying, but they have tended to fade in all drafting races, so the odds of Preece achieving much still seem incredibly remote.
