The Miami Dolphins offense was electric in 2023. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, and De'Von Achane give the Mike McDaniel system all the speed it needs to thrive.
The Dolphins running game was very good in 2023. The team finished sixth in yards, first in yards per carry, and tied for first in rushing touchdowns.
Mostert and Achane were the key cogs in the engine that drove the Dolphins running game. Despite the mighty fantasy season of Mostert in 2023, he is being drafted several rounds behind Achane. Who should you target in fantasy? Let's check it out.

Who is the Miami Dolphins' RB1?
Throughout the entire offseason, the Dolphins' depth chart has indicated that Mostert is the No. 1 running back. Mike McDaniel has indicated that their committee approach will also continue in 2024 to keep these guys healthy but that Mostert will be first up.
Mostert is 32 years old and has battled injuries in the past. His 2023 numbers are completely unsustainable as he scored 21 total touchdowns. However, in two seasons with the Dolphins, Mostert has hovered around 4.9 yards per carry and has rushed for at least 891 yards in both seasons. He has also played at least 15 games in each of the last two seasons.
Achane himself averaged an unsustainable 7.77 yards per carry in 2023. He was must-see TV and was a threat to break off a 40-plus yard run on any given play. Of course, given his smaller frame, Achane had trouble staying healthy. He missed six games and was limited in several others.
Both players are going to be heavily involved in the offense as long as they are healthy. Both players also carry their own sets of risks and rewards.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
If you can secure a bona fide stud in the first round of fantasy drafts then drafting Achane in round two or three is not a bad play. However, Mostert is the safer bet as you move into the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts.
Drafting Achane also comes at the expense of players such as Cooper Kupp, Deebo Samuel Sr., Josh Allen, DK Metcalf, and Jaylen Waddle. All of those players do not carry as much boom or bust and injury risk as Achane and should be steady contributors to your team.
Mostert is not going to repeat his RB5 finish from a year ago, but he will be the back the team uses in the red zone and around the goal line. He has a real chance to push for double-digit touchdowns and approach 1,000 rushing yards again.
Despite his age. Mostert has very little tread on his tires due to spending so much of his career as a special-teamer. Provided Achane does not break fantasy football, Mostert's RB22 draft capital may end up being a better value than Achane at RB11.
So are we all going to pretend that the Dolphins didn't see how the Dolphins used Raheem Mostert yesterday?
