The Buffalo Bills brought in wide receiver Curtis Samuel to help replace departed pass-catchers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason. Samuel is familiar with offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and he enjoyed his most productive season under Brady with the Carolina Panthers in 2020.
The former Ohio State Buckeye has been working to build chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen this preseason, but unfortunately, he picked up an injury just weeks away from the start of the 2024 campaign.
Will Samuel return to play in Week 1? What's his fantasy football outlook? Let's dive in.

Curtis Samuel Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Samuel (toe) is considered week-to-week as he deals with turf toe, according to head coach Sean McDermott. This is unfortunate for Samuel and the team, especially since Marquez Valdes-Scantling is also week-to-week with a neck injury. It's never a good sign for a player to pick up preseason injuries, but at least Samuel's injury is manageable, and he could still play in Week 1.
Bills players now out multiple weeks, per HC Sean McDermott:
🏈QB Mitch Trubisky (knee)
🏈WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (neck)
🏈TE Quintin Morris (shoulder)Players considered week to week:
🏈S Damar Hamlin (hamstring)
🏈Curtis Samuel (turf toe)— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 19, 2024
Given all the new faces in Buffalo and injuries already starting to pile up, it could take time for the Bills' passing game to get going in 2024. Still, Samuel remains an intriguing late-round sleeper in fantasy football, while teammates Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir could benefit from his absence this preseason.
Curtis Samuel 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Samuel is unlikely to provide every-week value or become anything more than a WR3, but he could produce spike weeks as a do-it-all weapon who is tied to one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Although his injury could affect his early-season production, his cheap cost in drafts means fantasy managers can afford to wait on his production.

With Joe Brady in Carolina in 2020, Samuel posted over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. If nothing else, he's a strong late-round flier in best ball formats at his ADP around the No. 114 overall pick.
