Top-5 MLB Pitching Prospects To Stash For Week 21 Fantasy Baseball Redraft Leagues (2024)

Hurston Waldrep - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rookie Rankings

Welcome back to our top starting pitcher fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 21 of the 2024 MLB season. Today, we'll be taking a look at top MLB pitching prospects, including a few new faces who have been performing very well at Triple-A.

Several of the sport's top pitching prospects who have been recurring members of this column, such as David Festa and Max Meyer, have settled in the majors and are no longer "stash" options. In addition, Zebby Matthews recently got the call to the big leagues as well earlier this week.

As the baseball season progresses, top prospects can have the opportunity to replace an injured player and immediately become valuable in fantasy. Below are five pitching prospects worth stashing in redraft leagues in Week 21. One of these players recently made their major league debut, and a few are nearing the call to the big leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Top Fantasy Baseball Prospect Stashes

Brandon Sproat - New York Mets (Currently At Triple-A, 1% rostered)

Starting this list is New York Mets prospect Brandon Sproat, who recently got the call-up to Triple-A. Unfortunately, Sproat struggled in his Syracuse debut as he served up seven hits, three walks, and six earned runs while striking out four.

While this start did not go as expected, Sproat has shown high upside this season and could still make an impact at the major league level. Through 62 ⅓ innings at Double-A, he held an impressive 2.45 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with a 15:77 BB:K ratio. In his final start at Double-A, the Florida product struck out a season-high 13 batters across five innings.

The Mets are in the heat of the Wild Card race, and with Kodai Senga (calf) and Christian Scott (elbow) both on the injured list with Senga out for the season and Scott without a definite return timetable in place, Sproat is the only reinforcement the Mets can turn to.

Bubba Chandler - Pittsburgh Pirates (Currently At Triple-A, 1% rostered)

The budding Bucco made his Triple-A debut on Aug. 9 and did not disappoint. The hard-throwing southpaw tossed seven shutout innings while striking out six. He allowed just two hits and issued one free pass.

Earlier this season at Double-A, the No. 48-ranked prospect on MLB.com held a 3.70 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 94 punchouts across 80 frames of work. Similar to the Mets, the Pirates are in the Wild Card hunt. Chandler can easily give the rotation a spark and is worth stashing due to his high-strikeout upside.

Hurston Waldrep - Atlanta Braves (Currently At Triple-A, 2% rostered)

Waldrep got a taste of the big leagues earlier this season but has since suffered from elbow information that kept him sidelined for a handful of weeks. The No. 2 prospect in Atlanta returned to Triple-A on Aug. 3 but struggled through his first start. However, in his most recent outing on Aug. 10, Waldrep allowed only one run across four innings. He recorded three punchouts in the effort.

While his success at the majors and Triple-A have not been outstanding, he held a strong 2.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 17:48 BB:K ratio through 49 innings at Double-A earlier this season. Last summer, he struck out 73 batters across 66 innings at the lower levels. The Braves recently lost Reynaldo Lopez (elbow) to the IL, which opens the door for Waldrep. He may only need one more start to get himself ready for the majors.

Jacob Misiorowski - Milwaukee Brewers (Currently At Triple-A, 5% rostered)

The top prospect in Milwaukee could also be called upon as a reinforcement during the stretch run. The right-hander has made three appearances at Triple-A since the start of August but has been on a pitch count. During these three outings, he has logged a total of 4 ⅔ innings and has allowed just two earned runs. The two runs were scored in his first appearance, and he has allowed only one baserunner in his past two outings.

Earlier this season at Double-A Biloxi, the former second-round pick struggled with consistency but held an overall 3.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 50:105 BB:K ratio.

Frankie Montas, Colin Rea, and Aaron Civale have all had rough moments throughout the summer, and Milwaukee might not want to enter October relying on them to win a playoff series. If Misiorowski can continue to post strong short outings at Triple-A, he should be up in the big leagues in the coming weeks.

Jackson Jobe - Detroit Tigers (Currently At Double-A, 10% rostered)

Once again, closing out our weekly look is the top pitching prospect in the sport. Jobe has continued to have trouble at Double-A, posting a 4.20 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in his previous three starts. However, before this stretch, Jobe held a near-perfect 0.56 ERA and a 0.69 WHIP in his previous three outings before that. Overall, through his first extended look at Double-A competition, the 22-year-old has posted an excellent 2.27 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.

Jobe may bypass Triple-A outright like Drew Thorpe did before he got the call, given his elite prospect pedigree and the production he has enjoyed at the other levels. His upside is higher than anyone on this list, which makes him worth stashing, at least in deeper leagues for now. He has the potential to be a top starting pitcher for the remainder of the season as soon as he gets promoted.
