Chase Hampton Dealing With Groin Injury
3 months agoNew York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Chase Hampton (groin), who is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 3 prospect, left his minor-league start early on Saturday due to a groin injury. As a result, Hampton was placed on the seven-day injured list at Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. The 23-year-old has already missed extended time in 2024 with elbow and shoulder issues, so this is the latest setback for the high-end prospect. The former sixth-rounder in 2022 from Texas Tech has only been able to make seven starts this year at three minor-league levels because of his injuries, posting a 2.41 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 16 K's and nine walks in 18 2/3 innings. Hampton can spin the ball with the best of them and has plenty of deception to his pitches. Despite his injuries in 2024, he could make his major-league debut in 2025 if he can stay healthy.
