Mickey Gasper Moving Up To The Big Leagues
3 months agoBoston Red Sox catching/first base prospect Mickey Gasper is being promoted to the major-league roster, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. Gasper opened the season at Double-A and needed 44 games to move up to Triple-A. Through his first 40 games at Triple-A Worcester, the 28-year-old has hit an eye-catching .401/.515/.664 with eight home runs and 32 RBI. Before earning the call, he was riding an 11-game hitting streak where he posted a .475 average in that stretch. Gasper could be worth a look in deeper AL-only formats, as he was performing at an elite level before earning the call. Fantasy managers should expect him to share time behind the dish with Danny Jansen and Connor Wong. This transaction could mean that Wong might play more in the infield, as he has logged starts at first base and the keystone this season.
