J.P. Crawford Has Resumed Throwing
3 months agoSeattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (finger), who has been taking infield practice since Aug. 2, threw for the first time before the team's series finale on Sunday against the visiting New York Mets, lightly tossing out to 60 feet. "Today's Day 1 for J.P. throwing," manager Scott Servais said on Sunday. "He still feels it, but we want to get his arm moving." The team's most optimistic projections have Crawford potentially starting a return progression no Aug. 19. He was hit on the back of his right hand by a changeup on July 22 and suffered a right-pinkie fracture. The timeline on Crawford at the time of his injury was four to six weeks. It's the second stint on the injured list this year for Crawford, who missed around a month with an oblique strain in late April and May. In between the injuries, the 29-year-old has been a big disappointment with a .204/.299/.347 slash line, nine homers and five steals.
