Is William Byron Worth Rostering For Richmond?
4 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver William Byron qualified 13th for this week's Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway. This is the same exact starting position that Byron collected in the spring race at Richmond, where he placed seventh. In 12 previous races at Richmond in the Cup Series, Byron has three top-10 finishes, with all of them coming during spring races at the site. With 22 races completed so far this year, Byron has three wins and 12 top-10 finishes, including two of the last three Cup events. In practice, Byron ranked 20th in overall lap averages while ranking as high as 16th in 30 consecutive lap averages. Although Richmond is not one of Byron's top tracks historically, he does have better than average equipment that makes him worth consideration for all lineup types in this week's race. With Byron starting outside of the Top 10 and practice speeds that are middle of the road, he is not a top overall recommendation but still could be utilized in cash game formats.
