Jose Trevino To Start Rehab Assignment On Sunday
4 months agoNew York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino (quadriceps) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Sunday. Trevino will start playing in minor-league games and could be ready to rejoin the Yankees sometime late next week/weekend. The 31-year-old veteran backstop has been sidelined for four weeks due to a Grade 2 left-quadriceps strain. With Trevino out, the Yankees have been rolling with a catching combination of Austin Wells (the starter) and Carlos Narvaez backing him up. Wells has been the more intriguing fantasy option in the Bronx, but Trevino hasn't been a slouch with a .244 average (41-for-168) with eight home runs and 27 runs driven in over 186 trips to the plate. When Trevino is given the green light to come off the 10-day injured list, Narvaez will become expendable.
