Matt Vierling Not Playing On Friday
4 months agoDetroit Tigers infielder/outfielder Matt Vierling (back) is absent from the team's starting lineup on Friday versus the hosting San Francisco Giants. Back spasms forced Vierling from Thursday's series finale against the Seattle Mariners early, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise that he's being held out of the series opener in San Francisco. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues will want to check back to see if the 27-year-old is feeling good enough to return to the lineup for the second game of the series on Saturday. Ryan Vilade is making the start in right field for Detroit on Friday and will hit seventh against Giants left-hander Robbie Ray. DFS gamers should be able to do much better than Vilade, who has gone 8-for-39 (.205) with a homer and four RBI in his first 15 games for the Tigers.
