There are 16 games on the schedule this Friday, but weather could have an impact in a few spots. Still, there should be plenty of options to consider for the main evening slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/9/2024, with the slate starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Robbie Ray vs. DET ($8,600 DraftKings; $9,500 FanDuel)
Ray has continued to miss a ton of bats since returning from injury. Over 14.1 innings, he has 21 strikeouts. He has also allowed two or fewer runs in two of his three outings. A matchup against the Tigers stands out as something to exploit in DFS. They have the fifth-worst OPS in baseball and are without their best hitter, Riley Greene (hamstring), who is on the injured list.
Jameson Taillon at CWS ($8,200 DraftKings; $9,400 FanDuel)
Taillon has allowed three or fewer earned runs in nine of his last 10 starts. It has been the continuation of a valuable season in which he has posted a 3.25 ERA and a 3.97 FIP. While his 19.0% strikeout rate isn’t great for DFS, he has been able to limit baserunners, leaving him with a 1.16 WHIP. He’s a great option against a White Sox team that has scored the fewest runs in baseball.
Jose Quintana at SEA ($7,500 DraftKings; $9,100 FanDuel)
The Mariners added to their lineup at the trade deadline, but they still have plenty of weak spots in their batting order. For the season, they scored the fourth-fewest runs and struck out the most times in baseball. Quintana’s 4.90 FIP indicates that he hasn’t pitched as well as his 3.95 ERA would lead one to believe, but this matchup still makes him worth targeting.
Also consider: Jack Flaherty vs. PIT, Bryce Miller vs. NYM

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Bobby Witt Jr. – SS, KC vs. Miles Mikolas ($6,400 DK; $4,600 FD)
Witt has been on another level at home. He has a 1.194 OPS in Kansas City this year, compared to a .790 OPS on the road. While Mikolas probably hasn’t pitched as badly as his 5.12 ERA would indicate, his FIP still isn’t great at 4.24. He also pitches to contact with a strikeout rate that checks in at just 16.1%. Witt has the potential to produce another gaudy stat line.
Safe to say Bobby Witt Jr. has done it all this season! 📊 pic.twitter.com/2Zz8W4yHep

Jake Burger – 3B, MIA vs. Martin Perez ($4,200 DK; $3,000 FD)
Burger is one of the most dangerous hitters left on the Marlins after they were sellers at the deadline. Over his last 13 games, he is 16-for-52 (.308) with seven home runs. He has the potential to remain hot against Perez, who has a 4.96 ERA and a 4.83 FIP. Perez has also posted a 1.57 WHIP this season, which is nothing unusual for him, given his career 1.45 WHIP.
Michael Massey – 2B, KC vs. Miles Mikolas ($4,000 DK; $2,800 FD)
As we continue to attack the Royals’ matchup against Mikolas, Massey has the potential to provide value. He does a good job of making contact, given that he only has a 15.0% strikeout rate this season. He also has a .349 wOBA at home, compared to a .321 wOBA on the road. At his cheaper salary, he can help balance out Witt’s hefty hit on your budget.
Also consider: Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Tyler Fitzgerald
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Kyle Schwarber – OF, PHI vs. Ryne Nelson ($5,600 DK; $4,100 FD)
Nelson allows too many baserunners. He had a 1.42 WHIP last season and has followed it up with a 1.37 WHIP this year. For his career, he has a bloated 1.62 WHIP at home. He’ll have his hands full with Schwarber, who is on a heater that has seen him hit 21-for-47 (.447) with eight home runs and a .587 OBP across his last 13 games.
Kyle Schwarber.

TJ Friedl – OF, CIN vs. Aaron Civale ($4,300 DK; $3,100 FD)
It has been a disappointing campaign for Civale, who has a 5.14 ERA and a 4.93 FIP. His biggest problem has been his 1.41 WHIP, which is on pace to be the highest mark of his career. He’ll run into a hot hitter when he faces Friedl, who has hit a home run in back-to-back games. Left-handed hitters also have a .358 wOBA versus Civale this season.
Jarred Kelenic – OF, ATL vs. Tanner Gordon ($3,900 DK; $3,300 FD)
Gordon has logged 21.1 innings for the Rockies, giving up 16 runs and six home runs. He also allowed nine home runs over 38.2 innings at Triple-A, so his inability to keep hitters inside the ballpark is a major concern. Many of the Braves’ top hitters have hefty salaries with this favorable matchup at Coors Field. Kelenic has power and is a way to gain some exposure to the game while also not destroying your budget.
Also consider: Marcell Ozuna, Brenton Doyle, Jorge Soler
