8 months agoChris Gutierrez (20-5-2) is set to take on UFC newcomer Quang Le on the main card of UFC Vegas 95. Gutierrez was supposed to take on Javid Basharat but on fight week, he was forced out of the bout and Le stepped up on short notice. Gutierrez is coming off a decision loss to Song Yadong in his first UFC main event. Gutierrez is a massive favorite in this fight and in the UFC, he's 8-3-1 with three wins by stoppage while he's been finished just once. Gutierrez should get someone just outside the top 15 like Basharat with a win.--Cole Shelton

1 year agoIt was not the return Chris Gutierrez would have hoped for. He took a tough decision loss of 44-50, 45-50, and 45-50 on the judges' scorecards. In 25 minutes of action, he landed 87 significant strikes. Gutierrez entered the fight on Saturday ranked 15th in the division. In his last fight, Gutierrez defeated Alateng Heili via unanimous decision in October and had been victorious in five of his last six outings. The loss knocks Gutierrez down to 8-3-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller

2 years agoAn impressive four-fight winning streak for Chris Gutierrez came to an end at UFC Kansas City on Saturday after he suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Pedro Munhoz. Gutierrez was undefeated since his UFC debut and was coming off a finish against former lightweight champ and UFC legend Frankie Edgar. In 15 minutes of action, Gutierrez was able to earn 77 significant strikes but absorbed a big right hand in the first round, which knocked him down. Gutierrez's biggest problem in this fight is that he rarely threw more than one strike at a time, and Munhoz just didn't give him space to get his kicks off.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller

2 years agoSince making his UFC debut, Chris Gutierrez (19-4-2) has been an absolute problem at bantamweight. He's gone (7-1-1) in nine fights and is on a four-fight winning streak. His opponent, Pedro Munhoz, is looking to get back in the win column, as he's lost the last two of his last three fights. DraftKings sees Gutierrez as the favorite over Munhoz, with a salary of $9,400. Throughout his UFC career (nine bouts), he's averaged 71.1 fantasy points per contest. This fight will be decided on the feet, although it should be a very close battle. Look for Gutierrez to continue his hot run in the UFC in this matchup.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller

2 years agoEarning his fourth straight win since a draw and improving to 7-1-1 in the UFC, Chris Gutierrez earned the biggest victory of his career by knocking out former champion Frankie Edgar in the first frame of action on Saturday. In 2:01 of total action, Gutierrez tallied 10 significant strikes while only absorbing two strikes, showing to be the much more dominant and quicker fighter. A perfectly timed knee by Gutierrez ended the night (as well as the career) of Edgar, who would go on to retire after the fight.--Matt Bricker
