Owen Caissie Launches Homer For Triple-A Iowa
Owen Caissie connected for his 12th homer of the season for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old has 12 homers and 53 RBI with a .278 batting average this season. The Cubs' No. 3 prospect could be looking at a potential promotion by the end of the season if he continues to show off his power potential. His 65-grade power would make him worth an immediate look on the waiver wire if he does get called up to Chicago this season. The Canadian has impressed this season and is knocking on the door of his major league debut.

Owen Caissie Snaps Power Skid
Owen Caissie went 2-for-6 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday. This was Caissie's first round-tripper since the Triple-A season-opener on March 28. This was also his first multi-hit contest since April 3. Through the first nine games of the Iowa Cubs' regular season, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system held a solid .243/.333/.486 slash line with a 4:15 BB:K. Last summer, the former second-round selection spent his entire season with Triple-A Iowa and held a solid .278/.375/.472 slash line. Given his strong play last season at Triple-A and hot start to this campaign, he should be in the mix for an early-2025 MLB debut. However, he may need to wait for an injury as the Cubs' outfield is currently quite deep and does not have an open spot for Caissie.

Owen Caissie Triples In Three-Hit Game At Triple-A
Owen Caissie went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader for Triple-A Iowa. The three-hit performance only brought his batting average up to .250 (5-for-20), but with a double, a triple, and a home run included in those five total hits, the 22-year-old is slugging .550. The left-handed hitter spent all of 2024 at Triple-A, and though he hit .278 with 19 home runs and a strong .375 OBP due to a high walk rate, he struck out at a 28.4 percent rate. The former second-round draft pick is faring even worse to begin 2025, striking out nine times in 22 plate appearances (40.9 percent). The Cubs don't have a need for Caissie in the outfield at the moment and would surely like to see him get the strikeouts under control before throwing him into the fire in the big leagues, not to mention it could be prospect Kevin Alcantara who gets the call before him, but the 6-foot-3 slugger still has a good shot to make his major league debut later this season and could hold value in NL-only leagues.

Owen Caissie Goes Deep In Season Opener
Owen Caissie (groin) went 1-for-3 with a solo shot during their victory over Triple-A Omaha. Caissie was on a slower ramp-up program during camp after undergoing offseason core-muscle surgery. He was experiencing groin tightness and was in danger of missing the start of the Triple-A season. However, the No. 3 prospect in the Chicago system covered right field and batted in the two-hole in the season opener. He launched a 426-foot solo blast in the seventh inning. Last season, Caissie spent the entire campaign with Triple-A Iowa. Across 127 contests, the former second-round pick posted a .278/.375/.472 slash line with 29 doubles and 19 long balls. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his production at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix for a promotion early in the 2025 season.

Cubs Option Owen Caissie To Triple-A
Owen Caissie was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday as the team made the first round of roster cuts. Although Caissie is one of the Cubs' top prospects, it wasn't surprising to see him get sent down since the Cubs are currently set in the outfield with Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker, and Pete Crow-Armstrong, in addition to the fact that Caissie had been shut down last week due to left-groin tightness. The team also has outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara, who is knocking the cover off of the ball this spring and could be called upon if needed. The left-handed hitting Caissie has plenty of pop in his bat, belting 19 home runs last season at Triple-A in 127 games, and also offers strong on-base potential with his ability to draw walks, owning a superb 13.8 percent walk rate in his minor league career. Redraft managers will want to be ready to pluck the 22-year-old off the waiver wire as soon as he gets the call to the big leagues and may even consider stashing if Crow-Armstrong starts off slow.
