Davis Schneider Getting A Breather On Tuesday
4 months agoToronto Blue Jays infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider will retreat to the bench on Tuesday against the visiting division-rival Baltimore Orioles after starting each of the team's last four games. With Schneider riding pine, Leo Jimenez will start at second base and will bat ninth for Toronto against Orioles right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. The 25-year-old Schneider is hitting just .214/.304/.375 on the year in 299 at-bats, but he should play regularly down the stretch after the team traded away Isiah Kiner-Falefa at last week's deadline. In 99 games in his second year in the big leagues, Schneider has provided a modest 10 home runs, 37 RBI and four stolen bases. Jimenez has 14 hits in his first 64 major-league at-bats so far in 2024 and is still searching for his first home run.
