Reed Garrett To Make Another Rehab Appearance This Week
4 months agoNew York Mets right-hander Reed Garrett (elbow) allowed three earned runs in just one-third of an inning for Double-A Binghamton on Sunday, but manager Carlos Mendoza said he came through the outing feeling physically strong. Garrett returned to New York on Monday to check in with the team's medical staff and will be sent back out for another minor-league rehab outing at an affiliate to be determined later this week. The 31-year-old has been out since the middle of July with right-elbow inflammation but is back to pitching in games and could return from the 15-day injured list sooner than later. Before his injury, Garrett was 7-3 with a 3.64 ERA (3.74 FIP), a 1.43 WHIP, his first four career saves, a career-high 63 strikeouts and 22 walks in 42 innings out of the Mets' bullpen. He could be a key relief arm for New York once he returns as the Mets look to secure a wild-card spot in the National League.
