Thorbjorn Olesen Could Be One To Watch At Sedgefield
8 months agoThorbjorn Olesen is coming off an impressive top-15 finish at the Olympics last week in Paris. The Danish golfer has made the cut in six of his last seven tournaments (Olympics had no cut). Expected rainy weather will slow the greens down. Olesen is no stranger to inclement conditions, though, as evidenced by The Open Championship. The key will be his putter, which ranks 35th in strokes gained (0.322). He only averages 26.89 putts per final round, and that is sixth on tour. If a few putts drop early and Olesen avoids a third-round hiccup, the Dane has potential from a DFS perspective.

Thorbjorn Olesen Makes First PGA Tour Start In 2025 At Mexico Open
1 month agoThorbjorn Olesen is set to make his first PGA Tour start of the 2025 season at this week's Mexico Open, held at Vidanta Vallarta. Currently, he is ranked 30th on the DP World Tour, with one top-five finish and one missed cut in four starts. Over the past 12 months, Olesen ranks in the 38th percentile for greens in regulation on approach shots from over 200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because, at last year's Mexico Open, over 43% of approach shots were taken from over 200 yards. Olesen might be overlooked this week and could be a solid addition to DFS lineups; however, including him comes with some risk.

Thorbjorn Olesen Playing Consistent Golf Before Olympics
8 months agoThorbjorn Olesen's recent performance at The Open Championship saw him finish T43, marking his ninth cut made in the last 11 appearances. This is a significant improvement from earlier this year when he missed three consecutive cuts in March. Notably, over the past 12 months, Olesen has a greens in regulation percentage in the ninth percentile on approach shots of 150-200 yards in the fairway. While Olesen could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week, it should be noted that including him comes with some risk.

Thorbjorn Olesen Still Trying To Find Footing On U.S. Soil
1 year agoDespite a spectacular run of play in Europe from the Fall of 2023 until January of 2024 that included five top 10 finishes and a win over nine starts, Thorbjorn Olesen hasn't been able to translate that form across the pond. He's made just one cut out of three across Mexico, Palm Beach, and Palm Harbor, and has surprisingly found most of his struggles on the greens (losing a combined 3.5 strokes putting in eight recorded rounds). The short game will need to be revived quickly for the Dane here in Houston, as Oleson's historic struggles off of the tee won't exactly be met with the most welcoming confines at 7400-yard Memorial Park. Still, we're not too far removed from him making a case as the most in-form player on the DP World Tour, so I remain optimistic on his long-term prospects.

Thorbjorn Olesen A Flier Pick At Valspar
1 year agoThorbjorn Oleson is making just his third PGA Tour start of the season this week at the Copperhead Course, but his knack for finding ways to play well on American soil can't be overstated, though his two performances in 2024 haven't exactly reflected that. A three-week tournament run in January on the DP World Tour concluded with a win at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, where he gained 1.79 strokes putting, 1.33 strokes on approach, and a whopping 4.02 total strokes gained. With only two events played since then, it's hard to know exactly where his game is coming into the week. At $9,900 on FanDuel, he's an expensive dart throw that could go either way.
