8 months agoMiami Marlins left-hander Jesus Luzardo (back) won't throw for another six weeks. Nothing is certain yet, but this news increases the likelihood that we won't see Luzardo pitch in the big leagues again this year. He's been working on strengthening his arm since last month but hasn't been able to throw at all since initially landing on the injured list back on June 22. The 26-year-old southpaw probably would have been a popular trade target had he stayed healthy this year, even after going 3-6 with a 5.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB in 66 2/3 innings over 12 starts before suffering a lumbar stress reaction in his back. Luzardo is now just looking to get healthy heading into the offseason this winter, and he'll be hoping for a bounce-back campaign with the Fish in 2024.
