BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper 12+ Team Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: Already in Major Leagues
ANALYSIS: It took a mix of luck (some bad) and timing (after the trade of Connor Norby to the Marlins, along with injuries to both Jordan Westburg and Jorge Mateo) but Coby Mayo, another of the Baltimore Orioles' promising prospects, has recently been called up to the majors. Despite only being on the big league roster for a couple of days, Mayo's potential makes him a player to watch closely.
The 22-year-old Mayo was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and has been a standout performer in the minors. In 2023, he split his time between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, where he slashed .290/.410/.563 with 29 home runs and 99 RBIs over 140 games, earning him the Eastern League MVP.

For fantasy purposes, Mayo is an interesting stash in deeper leagues. The Orioles have shown a willingness to give young talent opportunities, and Mayo is likely to see substantial playing time. His power potential and solid plate discipline could make him a valuable multi-category contributor if he adapts well to major-league pitching.
In shallower leagues, adopt a wait-and-see approach. Keep Mayo on your watch list and be ready to make a move if he starts to heat up. While he may not be an immediate must-add in all formats, Mayo's minor league success and opportunity in Baltimore make him a prospect worth monitoring closely.
