J.D. Martinez Hits Grand Slam In Loss
4 months agoNew York Mets designated hitter J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead grand slam in the top of the seventh inning in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Angels. The Mets' lead was brief, as Zach Neto hit a subsequent three-run homer in the bottom of the inning that gave the Angels the lead for good. Martinez is having a solid year for the Mets, slashing .268/.349/.454 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI despite missing most of the first month of the season. Since July 22, the 36-year-old has gone 13-for-41 (.317) with 12 RBI and two home runs -- both of which were grand slams.
