Rhett Lowder Posts Second Straight Quality Start
4 months agoCincinnati Reds starting pitching prospect Rhett Lowder has continued his strong run at Double-A by logging his second consecutive quality start on Thursday evening. In this start, the former seventh-overall pick in last year's draft tossed six innings of one-run ball with five punchouts. Since the start of July, Lowder holds a solid 2.39 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. This is a great sign, as prior to that, Lowder struggled through his first taste of Double-A with a 6.69 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. The top prospect in the Reds system and 20th overall on MLB.com could earn a promotion to Triple-A in the coming weeks if he continues to pitch well at Chattanooga and should contend for a major league debut next season.
