Jakob Marsee Hits Grand Slam, Drives In Six
4 months agoMiami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and tallied six RBI for Double-A Pensacola on Wednesday. It was a bright spot in what has been a somewhat disappointing season so far. After winning Arizona Fall League MVP honors in 2023, Marsee was looking to take a step forward in 2024 but is hitting a meager .188 over 91 games. Despite the poor batting average, the 23-year-old has still shown an impressive eye at the plate, collecting 16 walks in July alone and sporting a strong .343 OBP on the season. His penchant for getting on base via the walk has helped buoy his stolen base total of 39 on the season. Hopefully Wednesday's game is a sign of things to come and allow him to start earning a promotion to Triple-A either this season or next.
