Gabriel Moreno Out With Wrist Injury
4 months agoArizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (wrist) is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday for the series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals after taking a foul ball off his left wrist on Tuesday, but manager Torey Lovullo said that he's available off the bench. Moreno's injury doesn't sound serious, but the D-backs will give him a rest in a day game after a night contest. Jose Herrera will do the catching and will hit ninth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. With another day off coming on Thursday, fantasy managers should get Moreno back in Friday's series opener against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates. The 24-year-old backstop has looked good at the plate since the All-Star break, going 12-for-34 (.353) with three doubles, nine RBI and even a steal in 10 games. Moreno's average is down after batting .284 in 2023, and he's provided only four homers in 82 games.
