Will Warren Called Up To Start On Tuesday
4 months agoNew York Yankees pitching prospect Will Warren is being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make a spot start on Tuesday against the hosting Philadelphia Phillies. Right-hander Gerrit Cole was scheduled to make the start but has been scratched due to general body fatigue. Warren, the team's No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be making his major-league debut for the Yanks. Fantasy managers in DFS will want to stay away in this tough matchup, especially since the 25-year-old has posted a 6.11 ERA in 20 starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year. Warren is intriguing in dynasty/keeper leagues for his strikeout potential -- he has 115 punchouts in his 95 2/3 innings in the minors this year -- but he's much too risky to roll the dice on against the first-place Phillies on the road. It's likely he'll be sent back to Triple-A after his spot start.
