4 months agoThe San Diego Padres are set to promote pitching prospect Isaiah Lowe to High-A Fort Wayne. The right-hander has pitched well in Single-A Lake Elsinore with a 3.00 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 72 innings of work, which includes 13 starts in 18 appearances. MLB Pipeline ranks the 21-year-old as the Padres No. 16 prospect in a strong farm system. Lowe was shut down with shoulder issues last April, but he has bounced back and continues to throw strikes in the mid-90's. Some scouts believe his size at 6'1, 220 pounds, will prevent him from adding velocity, but he still provides a good combination with his fastball and slider. Health was his biggest concern entering this season and so far, so good on that end. Although he isn't the most highly touted prospect, he's an intriguing player for dynasty managers to follow on the watch-list.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
