Logan Gilbert Gets Rocked For Seven Runs On Monday
5 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (6-7) got rocked for seven earned runs on Monday night after 2 2/3 innings of work, allowing seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a 14-7 defeat at the hands of the Boston Red Sox. The tough start jumped Gilbert's excellent 2.72 ERA to 3.11 on the season. It's the most earned runs the young righty has allowed since giving up eight earned runs back on May 9 to the Minnesota Twins. Despite Monday's implosion, Gilbert is chasing a career year in ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP, but due to the lack of run support, he sits here at the end of July with a losing record. If you're in a "wins" and "losses" league, Gilbert has been slightly disappointing on that front, but there's no denying he's been making it up on all of the peripheral stats. The 27-year-old will have a tougher go of bouncing back when the Mariners take a trip to face the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend.
