4 months agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer will retreat to the bench on Sunday as the Blue Jays look for the three-game series sweep of the visiting Texas Rangers. With Springer sitting, rookie Addison Barger will draw into the lineup in right field and will bat seventh against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. The 34-year-old Springer is hitting only .227 (81-for-357) on the year, but he's been useful in most fantasy leagues for his power/speed contributions as a lineup regular in Toronto with 13 long balls, 12 stolen bases, 40 RBI and 50 runs scored in 97 games played. The four-time All-Star has also been much better in the month of July, going 22-for-81 (.272) with five round-trippers, four doubles, a triple, 15 RBI, six walks and four stolen bases in 21 games.
