4 months agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk and two-run homer in Wednesday's victory against the rival New York Yankees. Alonso crushed a two-run homer off Gerrit Cole in the top of the fourth inning to give the Mets a 3-2 lead at the time and it was all Mets from there. Alonso hasn't put up the big power numbers from his 2023 campaign but he is still having a solid season with a .240 batting average to go along with 20 homers and 53 RBI. The upcoming free-agent has stated he wants to stay with the Mets and is likely to remain on the roster past the deadline with the Mets five games over .500.
