The 2024 NFL regular season is still several weeks away. However, now is the time to prepare for the upcoming fantasy football season.
While everyone wants to talk about the first round and the elite wide receivers, there are several excellent mid-round options for fantasy players. Christian Kirk, Calvin Ridley, and Keenan Allen are among those options.
Which veteran wide receiver should fantasy players draft first in 2024? Let’s dive into their fantasy football outlooks.

Christian Kirk 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Kirk had a disappointing 2023 season because of injuries. However, the veteran was productive when healthy. He had 57 receptions on 85 targets for 787 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 11 healthy games. The Jacksonville Jaguars lost Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones this offseason, making Kirk the team’s No. 1 wide receiver. The last time he was Trevor Lawrence’s go-to guy, Kirk was a WR1 for fantasy players.

Calvin Ridley 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Ridley had high expectations last year after joining the Jaguars. While he had a solid season, the veteran missed out on several touchdown opportunities. Yet, Ridley had eight or more receiving scores for the third time in his career in 2023. The veteran will be Will Levis’ No. 1 wide receiver after signing with the Tennessee Titans in free agency. While the quarterback situation could be less than ideal, expect him to see a massive target share.

Keenan Allen 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Allen has been one of the more underrated wide receivers in fantasy football over the past few years. He had 108 receptions on 150 targets for 1,243 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season despite missing four games. Unfortunately, his days as an elite fantasy receiver are likely over. Allen went from being Justin Herbert’s No. 1 target to a crowded wide receiver corps in Chicago with a rookie quarterback under center.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
While all three veteran receivers are solid middle-round options for fantasy players, Kirk is my favorite of the trio. He has the best combination of quarterback play and target volume of the three. Furthermore, Kirk has the safest floor of these wide receivers, putting up a top-12 finish in 2022 as Lawrence’s No. 1 pass-catcher.
