9 months agoChase Elliott finished 10th in the Brickyard 400 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Despite being a fairly eventful race, it was a pretty underwhelming day for Elliott. While finishing with his 11th top-10 of the season is certainly something to celebrate, the performance itself was lackluster. With a DraftKings score of just 31.30, the Hendrick Motorsports star did not even come close to returning value on his $9,700 salary. Although he was just the 15th highest owned driver in the site's featured contest (16.42%), his ownership was higher than Ryan Blaney (15.84%), Justin Haley (15.65%), Todd Gilliland (7.67%) Daniel Suarez (5.54%), Noah Gragson (5.11%), Zane Smith (3.96%), Corey Lajoie (2.12%), and Cody Ware (1.89%), all of which finished with a higher score than the No. 9 did. Up next for the Cup Series, following a three week break to allow for NBC's Olympic coverage, is a trip to Richmond Raceway a track that Elliott finished fifth at earlier this season.--Adam Erhardt - RotoBaller

1 week agoIt has been 33 races since Chase Elliott won a NASCAR Cup Series race, but that could change at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. The No. 9 Chevrolet was one of the best in the field here at Homestead last fall, as NASCAR's most popular driver led 81 laps en route to a fifth-place finish. That's his third top-five result in the last eight Homestead races. And this weekend, Chase looks to have a similar No. 9 Chevrolet to work with on Sunday. During practice, Elliott struggled to put up a fast lap time, but his averages over the long run looked great--particularly in 30-lap average, where Chase ranked fifth-fastest. Priced at $9,500 on DraftKings this weekend, Elliott makes for a solid Place Differential DFS pick that potentially has race-winning upside as well. Chase is a strong option in all daily fantasy formats this weekend.--Jordan McAbee

2 weeks agoChase Elliott of Hendrick Motorsports obtained a starting position of 16th after qualifying for this week's Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is the lowest starting position of all four Hendrick entries for Sunday's race at the Nevada track. In 15 starts at Las Vegas in the Cup Series, Elliott has five top-10 finishes, with his last being collected in 2022. Through four races so far this season, Elliott has three top-15 finishes, including two top-10s in the last two weeks. In practice, Elliott ranked 16th in overall lap averages while ranking close to or inside the top 10 in all other categories. Considering his salary for this week's race ($9,000 on DraftKings), his salary, and recent 2025 seasonwide performance, Elliott is worth consideration for all DFS formats as one of the sneakier options available.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoHendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott will start sixth for this week's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. This will mark the fourth time since 2022 that Elliott will have a top-10 starting position at Phoenix. In 17 races at the site, Elliott has one win and nine top-10 finishes, including an eighth-place finish in his last appearance during the November 2024 Cup event. In practice, Elliott ranked 19th in overall lap average and displayed top-20 speeds in all other categories. Despite the promising qualifying run and Elliott's solid stats at Phoenix, his practice speeds and lower upside combined with a high salary ($9,500 on DraftKings) make him best suited for tournament lineups only for DFS.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoAfter starting third, Chase Elliott's race at Austin spun out of control literally after a bump from Ross Chastain dropped him to 36th. After making repairs on the Stage 1 caution, he didn't catch up to the field in time as he restarted over 10 seconds behind the other lead lap cars in Stage 2. Nonetheless, the Stage 2 caution allowed him to make a frantic charge as he drove from 30th on the lap 49 caution to eventually finish 4th after passing a faltering Kyle Busch on the last lap. Although many people expected Elliott to spin Chastain out once he caught up to him, Chastain was smart for once and decided to let Elliott through unimpeded. Elliott improved from 10th in points to a tie for 4th with race winner Christopher Bell.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
