Decision Coming On Giancarlo Stanton By End Of Next Week
4 months agoNew York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) said a decision most likely will be made by the end of next week on when he can return to the field. Manager Aaron Boone thinks it's a matter of building stamina daily. It's still unclear if Stanton will go on a minor-league rehab assignment or join the Yankees immediately after he's activated from the 10-day injured list. Last year, Stanton played in just one rehab game before returning to the majors. He resumed treadmill activities on June 27 and "did quite a bit of running" on July 9. Stanton strained his left hamstring while running the bases on June 22 and was told to expect a four-week stint on the IL. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection on June 23. It's the 34-year-old slugger's eighth trip to the IL in the last six years, but he remains a must-stash in all fantasy formats for his high-end power stroke.
