Despite Lack of Indianapolis Experience, Strong Pocono Run May Carry over for Josh Berry
4 months agoJosh Berry makes his first start on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in today's Brickyard 400. Since he did not become a regular in any NASCAR national series until after the oval had been replaced by the IMS road course, he had never made a start on the oval until yesterday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race, but he accrued little experience, as he was caught up in the multi-car melee on the opening lap of the race, which leaves his expected performance as a huge question mark. However, despite starting 37th, Berry has the potential to be a solid dark horse, as his crew chief, Rodney Childers, won the last two Brickyard 400s with Berry's predecessor, Kevin Harvick. Performance at IMS tends to correlate with Pocono Raceway as well, and Berry surprisingly took the lead from Martin Truex, Jr. there last week. Berry is likely to exceed expectations for these reasons and is a great Place Differential choice in DFS contests due to his deep starting position.
