Michael Siani Back In Cardinals Lineup
4 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Michael Siani (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Friday against the hosting Atlanta Braves and rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach to open the second half of the season, playing center field and batting ninth. Siani will return to the team's lineup for the first time since being hit by a pitch on his elbow in the first game of a doubleheader last Saturday but had a chance to heal up during this week's All-Star break. The 25-year-old has been more useful to St. Louis for his defense in center field than for his bat with Tommy Edman (wrist) out all year. Siani is batting just .227/.263/.304 with a weak .568 OPS in his first full season in the big leagues. He has no business being rostered in mixed fantasy leagues with only two home runs and 14 RBI, but he can be useful for his speed (10 steals) in NL-only setups.
