As MLB prepares to crank back up following this week's All-Star Break, there is no shortage of key fantasy baseball injuries to cover. With the second half of the season in mind, let's take a look at injured pitchers Jeffrey Springs, Kodai Senga, Jackson Jobe, Robbie Ray, and more.

Jeffrey Springs Injury Update
Tampa Bay Rays left-handed starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs (elbow) is ramping up for a return to the big leagues after working his way back from Tommy John surgery. Springs has three appearances of at least four innings during July for Triple-A Durham. He is inching closer to making his way back to the Tampa Bay rotation.

The 31-year-old had a breakout 2022 campaign, going 9-5 with a 2.46 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. He was injured in his third start during the 2023 season. It is never easy to predict how a pitcher will fare post-Tommy John, but Springs was in the midst of a career renaissance with the Rays prior to the injury.
Kodai Senga Injury Update
New York Mets right-hander Kodai Senga (shoulder, triceps) is expected to make another minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend. Barring a setback, Senga's rehab start this weekend is expected to be his last before he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list to make his 2024 debut in the major leagues.

The 31-year-old threw 67 pitches over 4 2/3 frames in his last rehab start for Syracuse on Sunday, which was his third total rehab outing. A strained right shoulder initially kept Senga from starting the season in New York's rotation before he suffered a setback due to a triceps injury. The Japanese hurler was the Mets' ace in 2023 with a 12-7 record, 2.98 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and impressive 29.1% strikeout rate and shouldn't be floating around any waiver wires with his 2024 debut right around the corner.
Jackson Jobe Injury Update
Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Jackson Jobe (hamstring) is dialing things up at Double-A Erie after missing some time with a hamstring injury. The right-handed flamethrower has thrown 10 innings in two starts in July with 16 strikeouts, four walks, and just an earned run on five hits. The 21-year-old is the top pitching prospect in the minors at the moment and is showing why.

With Paul Skenes dominating the big leagues and earning an All-Star Game start, Jobe is the best young pitching prospect to stash in dynasty leagues. He should earn a Triple-A promotion by the end of this season and potentially a big-league look, though next year might be more likely for an MLB debut.
Luis Garcia Injury Update
Houston Astros right-hander Luis Garcia (elbow) is throwing out to 75 feet and is going to get back on a mound in a couple of days, according to general manager Dana Brown. It's good news after Garcia was pulled from his minor-league rehab assignment after making his last start on July 4 because he wasn't bouncing back the way he wanted.

The 27-year-old is attempting to return from Tommy John surgery that he had last year and should return to Houston's starting rotation later in the second half of the season when he's sufficiently stretched out. The Venezuelan hurler would be a significant addition for a banged-up Astros starting rotation down the stretch, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues may want to temper their expectations because of Garcia's long layoff. In four major-league seasons, he's gone 28-19 with a 3.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 364 K's in 352 innings pitched.
Robbie Ray Injury Update
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Robbie Ray (elbow) looked fantastic in his ninth rehab start Sunday with Single-A San Jose. Ray pitched five scoreless innings, striking out nine hitters while working up to 74 pitches.

The 32-year-old has looked good overall while recovering from his May 2023 Tommy John surgery, pitching with San Jose, Triple-A Sacramento, and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Ray was a standout fantasy pitcher in 2021 and 2022 and could be poised to join the Giants sometime shortly after the All-Star break, so he should be on fantasy managers' radars in all leagues at this time.
Justin Verlander Injury Update
Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander (neck) threw a successful 25-pitch bullpen session on Sunday. The 41-year-old continues to work his way back from a neck issue that has sidelined him for about a month. It sounds like Verlander is making progress, but the Astros are going to continue being cautious with him. He'll still need to do a few rehab outings before rejoining the Astros rotation. The hope is that Verlander can help the Astros over the final few months of the season.

Brusdar Graterol Injury Update
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) picked up the victory on Tuesday in his second minor-league rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League when he allowed an earned run on two hits while walking none and striking out none. Graterol is likely to make a few more appearances in the minors before potentially coming off the injured list to join the Dodgers' bullpen for the first time all season.

The 25-year-old reliever hasn't pitched yet in the big leagues in 2024 due to right-shoulder inflammation that first cropped up in spring training. The Venezuelan hurler went 4-2 with a career-best 1.20 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, a career-high seven saves, a career-high 48 strikeouts and 12 walks in 67 1/3 innings for LA in 2023 and could become a key late-inning, high-leverage weapon for the Dodgers down the stretch and in the postseason once he returns.
Mike Clevinger Injury Update
Chicago White Sox right-hander Mike Clevinger (elbow, neck) looked good in his fourth minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, allowing one earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out three in four innings of work. In Clevinger's second start since his rehab assignment was restarted due to neck stiffness, he threw 35 of his 51 total pitches for strikes.

The 33-year-old isn't sufficiently stretched out, but the White Sox haven't ruled out Clevinger returning to the big-league roster for the start of the second half as he continues to build his pitch count. Either way, Clevinger is going to be a shaky streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues once he rejoins the worst team in baseball from the 15-day injured list. Clevinger landed on the IL on May 28 with right-elbow inflammation.
