Robbie Ray isn't the only veteran lefty who is nearing a return to his team's rotation soon.
Jeffrey Springs is also on the verge of returning to Tampa Bay's rotation as he's been building up his pitch count in the minor leagues and pitching effectively.
But how soon can we expect to see Springs in a Rays (not Robbie's) uniform?
How High Is Jeffrey Springs's Fantasy Baseball Potential?
Springs was poised for a huge year in 2023 before getting hurt early on and missing the entire season after having TJ surgery.
The now 31-year-old was masterful in 2022, pitching to a 2.46 ERA and 1.07 WHIP and striking out over one batter per inning.
Springs isn't an overpowering pitcher, but he does have multiple quality offspeed pitches, including a changeup that generates a lot of swings and misses.
He may take some time to build back up to his normal allotment of pitches or innings, but his major league track record is sound and his performance in the minors thus far is signaling that he could be just as effective as he was before the injury.
When Might Jeffrey Springs Return to the Major Leagues?
The answer is really, "any day now," as it's just a judgment call by management as to whether or not they think he's ready.
