David Peterson Back From Paternity List
4 months agoThe New York Mets activated left-hander David Peterson from the paternity list on Monday. Peterson landed on the paternity list late last week and missed the team's three-game series to conclude the first half of the season against the visiting Colorado Rockies. The 28-year-old southpaw is now back with the team, though, although it's unclear if his first start of the second half will come this weekend against the division-rival Miami Marlins. He has only made eight starts for the Mets in 2024, but Peterson has looked good when on the big-league mound, going 4-0 with a 3.09 ERA (4.54 FIP) and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts and 19 walks in 43 2/3 innings pitched. However, Peterson has never had a walk rate below 10% in his career and he's currently sporting a career-low 16.8% strikeout rate, so regression could be coming in the second half if he stays in New York's rotation.
