Zebby Matthews Allows Two Walks For The First Time In 2024
4 months agoThrough his first 13 starts of the 2024 season (75 innings), Minnesota Twins starting pitching prospect Zebby Matthews had allowed just four walks. However, in his most recent start, he walked two batters in just three innings of work. He also allowed two hits and a run, striking out four. Most young pitchers consider two-walk starts an accomplishment. But for Matthews, who's shown otherworldly control between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita, this was a surprise. Overall, the Twins' No. 19 prospect (per MLB.com) has a 1.85 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, and 91:6 K/BB. With such an impressive season, he could make his MLB debut this year.
