Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers - Top Waiver Wire Pickups and Starts for Week 17 (July 19 - July 21)

MJ Melendez - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

Fantasy baseball hitter streamers and starts for Week 17 of the 2024 season. Thunder Dan Palyo analyzes the top batter streamers to pick up in Week 17.

Whether your league combines the week before and after the All-Star break or counts them separately, I'm here to help recommend some bats who can give you a boost in that first series after the break.

Our hitter streamers fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups column will identify hitters with good matchups that can be considered waiver wire streamers ahead of the Sunday night waiver wire runs for leagues with weekly transactions.

In this piece, every week I'll look to find hitters playing in the most games and who have the most favorable matchups to help you plug those gaps and fill those holes in your roster. You can also check out the rest of our fantasy baseball streamer content here at RotoBaller.

What Teams Offer The Most Streaming Value?

Following the break, every team will be in action for three games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday except Minnesota and Milwaukee who play a two-game series against each other on Saturday and Sunday.

Park Factors and Matchups: Upgrades and Downgrades

  • The Giants play in Coors -- UPGRADE
  • The Diamondbacks play at Wrigley -- UPGRADE
  • The Angels play in Oakland -- DOWNGRADE

Week 17 Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers

I'll recommend only players who are 40% rostered or lower and all roster percentages are from Yahoo!

Shea Langeliers, C - OAK (34%)

This season the Oakland backstop has been streaky, but he's pulling into the break with 17 home runs and 50 RBI and has hit safely in eight of his last nine starts. He can hurt your batting average once he cools off, but the trade-off could be a bunch of homers and RBI. Oakland has a nice matchup with the Angels after the break, too.

Lars Nootbaar, OF - STL (29%)

Nootbaar is finally back from the IL and St. Louis has to hope he can stay healthy in the second half. He's arguably their best all-around hitter and should hit in the top third of the order most nights. The Cards travel to Atlanta after the break where left-handed power bats often do well in that park.

MJ Melendez, C/OF - KCR (27%)

You won't often see a guy hitting under .200 in a streaming article, but Melendez is starting to heat up with three home runs in his last four games. Perhaps that's a sign of a better second half to come. Either way, right now he's feeling it and he will get to pick on the White Sox pitching staff right after the break.

Eugenio Suarez, 3B - ARI (25%)

Suarez's situation is similar to Melendez's in that he was scraping by with an average around the Mendoza line before recently catching fire. He's got three home runs in his last four games and 12 RBI over his last six contests.

Perhaps he feels Arizona's prospect Deyvison De Los Santos breathing down his neck for his job or it could be that he's just a streaky hitter who tends to go red hot and ice cold throughout the season. Either way, Suarez is worth an add now. Ride him until he cools off again.

Tyler Stephenson, C - CIN (25%)

Another player in the midst of a power surge is Stephenson, who's racked up three home runs and eight RBI for Cincinnati over his last five games. The Reds have a favorable matchup against Washington coming out of the break, too, so maybe Tyler can stay hot.

Spencer Horwitz, 1B/2B - TOR (22%)

This is your weekly reminder that Horwitz is a really good player who should not be on the wire in this many leagues. While many of these players are streaky guys who all of a sudden get hot, Horwitz has been super consistent since being called up and continues to hit (.330) and get on base (.431) at an elite level. There is some power there, too, as he's now up to four home runs on the year.

Rowdy Tellez, 1B - PIT (16%)

We might be at the tail end of Rowdy's run... or he could be poised for a solid second half. But the hefty lefty has completely turned around his season with his solid play over the last month and has earned a shot at being on your roster if you need some power numbers.

Max Schuemann, 2B/SS/OF - OAK (14%)

The Oakland utility man is hitting .333 over the last two weeks with two home runs, seven runs scored, and four stolen bases. And with eligibility at three positions, he could be a nice stopgap for your squad if you need help in the outfield or middle infield positions.

Angel Martinez, 2B/3B/SS/OF - CLE (12%)

Speaking of utilitymen, Martinez is eligible at four positions and has made a big impression in Cleveland since he was promoted to the big leagues earlier this month. He's been hitting second in the lineup behind Steven Kwan and in front of Jose Ramirez, which is a very favorable spot for fantasy production. He's gone deep twice already, though his value is likely going to be tied to his average and runs scored.

Fantasy Baseball Deep League Hitter Streamers to Consider

Some widely available hitters (under 10% rostered) could be worth a look this week.

Good luck this week and choose those streaming options wisely!
