Matt Shaw Continues To Showcase Potential At Double-A
4 months agoChicago Cubs third base prospect Matt Shaw has remained hot at the plate since his power surge to close out June. In his past five games, Shaw holds a .316 AVG with two multi-hit games. Since June 13, Shaw has begun to find his footing at Double-A and has posted a stellar .339/.394/.625 line with four home runs, 14 RBI, four stolen bases, and a 6:11 BB:K ratio. Before this extended hot stretch, Shaw was riding a poor .159 AVG in early June. The former first-round selection in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Maryland has been progressing through a deep Chicago system very quickly and is already considered the second-best prospect in the system on MLB.com. Shaw remains on track to make his major league debut next season and is developing into one of the best third-base prospects in the sport.
