Is Josh Allen Or Patrick Mahomes The Fantasy Football QB1 In Dynasty Leagues?

Josh Allen - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Should fantasy football players draft Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes during their 2024 dynasty drafts? Mike Fanelli examines the case for both quarterbacks.

The NFL has several elite, young quarterbacks. However, the two at the top of the list are Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. They have been the top quarterbacks in the NFL and fantasy football the past few years.

Fantasy players have debated which quarterback is the QB1 in dynasty leagues. Mahomes is the better NFL quarterback, but Allen’s rushing abilities give him an edge in fantasy football.

Which quarterback is the QB1 in dynasty leagues? Let’s dive into it!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Josh Allen Fantasy Football Outlook

Allen has been the QB1 in three of the past four years. The superstar had at least 35 passing touchdowns in three consecutive seasons before last year, tossing only 29 in 2023. However, he made up for it with his legs, totaling 15 rushing touchdowns.

By comparison, Allen had 13 rushing touchdowns in 2021 and 2022 combined. While some are worried he won’t put up QB1 numbers after losing Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason, the superstar has enough weapons around him to succeed.

Patrick Mahomes Fantasy Football Outlook

Mahomes is coming off the worst year of his career as the starter. He was the QB8, averaging 17.5 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, it was the first time in his career that the superstar averaged fewer than 20.5 fantasy points per game since taking over as the starter in 2018. Mahomes had only 27 passing touchdowns, the second-lowest mark of his career as a starter.

While he had a disappointing 2023 season, the superstar should rebound this year. The Kansas City Chiefs added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy at the wide receiver position. Furthermore, Travis Kelce is 100% healthy after dealing with multiple injuries last season. Mahomes could have the best year of his career in 2024.

Is Josh Allen Or Patrick Mahomes The QB1 In Fantasy Football Dynasty Leagues?

Fantasy players should jump at the chance to draft either quarterback in redraft or dynasty leagues. However, Mahomes has passed Allen as the QB1 in dynasty leagues after the Chiefs improved his receiving corps this offseason. While Brown will likely be a one-year rental, Mahomes will have Worthy and Rashee Rice at his disposal for the next several seasons. Meanwhile, Allen’s receiving corps is arguably one of the worst in the NFL.
