When is Jasson Dominguez getting called up? Will Jasson Dominguez play in July of this MLB season? Read about Jasson Dominguez’s debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2024.
Those who stashed Jasson Dominguez, aka The Martian, hoping for a late-season surge may not get it. It all depends on when your league playoffs begin since some leagues completely ignore baseball after Labor Day. At least he will still be useful in DFS when he returns! When is that?
Dominguez returned to the Yankees farm clubs on May 14 after missing the rest of 2023 and the first five months of 2024 with Tommy John surgery. He played 23 games across three levels, recording a gaudy .356 average with six homers, 13 RBI, and three steals. His return was short-lived.
Dominguez strained his left oblique on June 15 and was expected to miss eight weeks. How is Dominguez progressing in his rehab? Will he return before mid-August?
Jasson Dominguez Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Dominguez was spotted doing some outfield work at the Yankees minor league complex in Tampa, Florida yesterday.

What does that mean for his potential return? The Yankees have a crowded outfield with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Giancarlo Stanton already patrolling the Bronx. Even when Dominguez is able to return to baseball, he will likely be in the minors again to get consistent at bats just like the Yankees did with him in May.
Jasson Dominguez Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Whenever Dominguez gets called back up to the major leagues, he should be on your roster. Despite only eight major league games under his belt, Dominguez hit a respectable .258 with four homers, seven RBI, and a steal in those 31 at-bats. His first major league at-bat was one to remember!

With the outfield in New York as crowded as it is, we may not see Dominguez until the rosters expand on September 1. However, if Dominguez starts fast in his minor league rehab stint again, can the Yankees really keep him in the minors with Alex Verdugo only slashing .242/.299/.691 on the season? Verdugo's 10 homers and 45 RBI are decent numbers, but the Yankees expect more than decent. Coupled with the fact that it's obvious Dominguez is better than decent, the most likely scenario is that Dominguez gets called up after raking for a few games in the minors.
There is still no concrete timetable for his return. Best-case scenario is we see Dominguez in the Bronx by the middle of August. The Yankees are on the older side as far as MLB teams go, so they have injuries aplenty. Both Stanton and Anthony Rizzo are on the IL right now. Who knows what the Yankees roster will look like in a month? All I know is that they will find room for Dominguez once he is ready to return and we should take the same approach with our fantasy teams.
