German Marquez Lined Up To Make Season Debut On Sunday
5 months agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (elbow) reported feeling good after his latest minor-league rehab start -- eight strikeouts in five innings for Double-A Hartford on Tuesday -- and will join the Rockies on Friday when they start a three-game series against the New York Mets to close out the first half of the 2024 season. It's expected that Marquez will return to the team for the finale of that series on Sunday for his season debut. The 29-year-old made a total of seven rehab starts at all different levels of the minors and went 0-4 with a 7.11 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 24 strikeouts and five walks in 19 total innings. His fastball was in the upper-90s recently and it's nice to see that he only walked five batters, but fantasy managers should definitely temper their expectations for what he can do in the second half of the season after coming off Tommy John surgery.
