Brandon Pfaadt Making The Start On Thursday
4 months agoArizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (ankle) has been cleared to start in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Atlanta Braves, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Pfaadt left his last start early on Saturday against the San Diego Padres after he was hit on the left ankle by a line drive, but X-rays came back negative, and he won't miss a turn through Arizona's starting rotation. The 25-year-old shouldn't face any pitch-count restrictions on Thursday. In his first meeting against Atlanta on April 6 in his second start of the year, Pfaadt allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision, but he'll be facing a much weaker Braves offense on Thursday in Arizona. In his last two starts, Pfaadt has given up just two earned runs with two walks and 14 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings pitched to lower his season ERA to 4.19 and WHIP to 1.19.
