Charlie Blackmon Out Again With Hamstring Injury
5 months agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) will miss his third straight game in Thursday's series finale against the hosting Cincinnati Reds, and now we know why. Manager Bud Black said Blackmon "tweaked" his right hamstring making an awkward sliding catch during the series opener on Monday. Black had planned a day off for Blackmon on Tuesday against a left-handed pitcher, but he wanted to start him in the final two games of the series. Blackmon checked out well while running on the field before Wednesday's game and was available for pinch-hitting duties, but he'll miss one more day as a precaution. With Blackmon out again on Thursday, Jake Cave is starting in right field and batting fifth, with Sam Hilliard, who hit two homers on Wednesday, playing left field and batting ninth. Nolan Jones will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene.
