Brayan Bello Gives Up Five Runs But Fans 11
5 months agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello capitalized on a juicy matchup on Tuesday night, picking up his ninth win of the season in a 12-9 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics. Bello did allow five earned runs on nine hits (one home run), but he walked only two and struck out a season-high 11 batters. He now has 18 strikeouts in 12 innings over his last two starts against the A's and Miami Marlins, but he's also allowed under four earned runs just twice in his last seven starts, dating back to June 2. The Dominican hurler was projected for a breakout season in 2024 by many, but he's currently sporting a 5.40 ERA (4.44 FIP) and 1.49 WHIP with 82 strikeouts and 32 walks. Bello does have a career-high 22.1% strikeout rate in his third big-league campaign, but he'll be a pretty shaky fantasy option in his final start before the All-Star break against the Kansas City Royals this weekend.
