Top Candidates To Dethrone CeeDee Lamb As The Fantasy Football WR1 In 2024

Which three wide receivers can dethrone CeeDee Lamb as the fantasy football WR1 in 2024? Joey looks at three wideouts who could finish as the WR1 this season.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is coming off the best season of his young career in 2023, totaling 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lamb also ran 14 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Those career numbers helped Lamb finish as the overall WR1 for the first time. He averaged 23.7 PPR fantasy points per game and only trailed Josh Allen (410.6 PPR fantasy points) for the most fantasy points in 2023. 

However, repeating as the WR1 is not an easy thing to do. So, which three wideouts can dethrone Lamb as the fantasy football WR1 in 2024? Let's dive in and find out.

Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins 

As elite as Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been in fantasy over his career, he only has one overall WR1 finish. That came back in 2018 with the Chiefs. But if there is any playmaker that will dethrone Lamb as the top wideout in 2024, it will be Hill.

Hill has finished as the WR2 in three of the past four years, including last year -- where he averaged 23.5 PPR fantasy points per game. The 30-year-old only scored 26.8 PPR points fewer than Lamb in 2023, and that was with the veteran missing one game in Week 15. With Tua Tagovailoa back as his quarterback, a WR1 finish could be in store. 

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals 

The highest that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has finished in fantasy is the WR5, which he set back in his rookie campaign in 2021. But Chase hasn't been able to build on that due to his own injuries (2022) and Joe Burrow's season-ending injury last year (2023). 

However, with Chase and Burrow both healthy heading into the season, there is a strong chance that the wideout can dethrone Lamb as the WR1. He has an elite quarterback throwing him passes, and their connection goes all the way back to their LSU days. If both can stay healthy, the 24-year-old playmaker has the potential and upside to finish as the overall WR1 in 2024. 

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

There are things certainly working against Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson in 2024, which could prevent him from finishing as the WR1. However, it's safe to say that he is the most talented wideout in the league, and talent always outweighs situation in fantasy.

Of course, Jefferson will be catching passes from either Sam Darnold or rookie J.J. McCarthy in 2024, which could spell trouble for him. But don't forget what the All-Pro wideout did to end last season with Nick Mullens as his quarterback. He averaged 20.2 PPR fantasy points in the final four games of the year. He definitely has the talent to finish as the WR1 again.
