Yoeilin Cespedes Diagnosed With Broken Hamate In Left Hand
4 months agoBoston Red Sox shortstop prospect Yoeilin Cespedes (hand) has been diagnosed with a broken hamate bone in his left hand, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. The 18-year-old will likely undergo surgery, which could sideline him for the remainder of the season. Cespedes posted a dominant .319/.400/.615 line with five long balls, 24 RBI, three stolen bases, and a 12:19 BB:K ratio in 25 games at the Florida Complex League this season. He recently earned a promotion to Single-A Salem but may have to wait until next season to make his debut there. The young infielder is considered the seventh-best prospect in Boston on MLB.com and is worth paying close attention to as he progresses through the lower level of the minor leagues.
